Community Choir

The choir started in February 2009 and immediately attracted a membership of around 80 with ages raging from 11 to 60+.
All are welcome, and many discover new found confidence in their voice through participating in the group.
My goal for the choir is that everyone in the group feels included and accepted, and that as we sing together we create joy, have FUN and co-create community. You choose your level of participation in the choir - for those who feel inclined, there will be opportunity to sing in small groups, or to solo. You may also wish to help with the many small tasks needing done to run the choir.
The choir repertoire will include songs from a wide range of countries and styles. We will learn African, gospel, pop, Maori, ballads, barbershop and more. We will perform from time to time, either putting on our own concerts or singing at events.

Choir practise details:
Wednesday evenings, 7:30 - 9:10 during school term
Mt Eden Normal School Hall, cnr Valley Rd and Sherbourne St.
      See 2010 Term dates below

There are two modes of payment:
A 10 week term subscription costs $75 ($60 unwaged). If you join part way through a term, you would pay a proportion of that
The casual rate is $12 / night ($10 unwaged), appropriate if you cannot come regularly. There are subsidised places available in the choir where the fees would present a significant barrier to participating. You can click below to send an email enquiry. All enquiries and subsidies will be kept confidential

New members are welcome at any time - just come along as a casual and sing for an evening and experience the joy!
